Just about the 4th of July. If you still haven’t purchased that suit, there is plenty of reason to do so, not the least of which are the 4th of July sales that can be found at every retailer. So this is definitely the time to step up and give yourself permission to enjoy the pleasures of summer.
Just about any retailer you consider will have a sale on swimsuits this weekend. Some of the places you might like to look are Land’s End . I find they have a good selection of suits that look like they’re made for real women. They also have them sorted so that you can search by color, size, body shape, anxiety zone (!), etc. Eddie Bauer also has a lot of great suits on sale, and great cover-ups too. If you visit the Target website you’ll find more bathing suits than you would ever have the patience to browse, or maybe I should just speak for myself, but the price points can’t be beat. Everything But Water has a great selection, also sorted in helpful ways, but I didn’t see any on sale, and they were more expensive. If you’re looking for customized help, visit Water, Water Everywhere located in lots of malls. They have a fit specialist in every store.
If you still feel a need for more guidance, O Magazine had some helpful tips for those of us who want to look our best in a bathing suit.
One other thing to remember about bathing suits – don’t forget the cover up. Let’s face it, most of us probably spend more time with some kind of cover-up on than not, when we’re at our favorite swim place. So, don’t make it an afterthought. There are lots of really cute cover-ups out this year, and they can carry you from beach to barbecue if you find the right one – easy, casual, cool. Now isn’t that the essence of summer?
